I knew from a very early age that I was meant to be an artist. Playing with my coloring books was my favorite pastime! In school, I would finish my assignments early and get to paint quietly in the corner of the room. Art was always my favorite class. I majored in art and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gettysburg College. It was there that I did my first oil painting and received my first formal art training. I have dabbled in various media over the years, including watercolor and colored pencils. I became enthusiastic about working with soft pastels after attending a summer workshop in upstate New York in 2000, and I have been working almost exclusively in pastels ever since. I recently picked up my oil paints again.
I love color and take pleasure in painting flowers, even if I don’t have a green thumb! Most of my recent artwork focuses on flower arrangements since I can easily paint this subject indoors. I also like to paint landscapes.
I take an active role in several art organizations. I am a Signature member of the Pastel Society of New Jersey, an organization that I started in 2005 with a few other pastel artists as there was no pastel group in NJ. I was the original First Vice President in charge of Membership. Our little group grew quickly! I am also very involved in the Art Association in Roxbury. I have served as the President and the Chair of the Board of Trustees, in addition to many other positions over the years.
